With the ever-increasing numbers of security breaches, both human and machine-based, significantly more understanding is required from testers to ensure that the proper quality assurance measures are in place for assuring the security of IT systems.

This intensive four-day course contains lectures, exercises and practical work to describe and illustrate best practices in security testing.

Who is it for?

The ISTQB Advanced Security course is for Technical Testers, Security Testers, Security Co-ordinators and Managers, plus testers and test managers who are serious about including security aspects into their test plans or who want to specialise.


Entry Requirements

  • A Certificate at ISTQB Foundation level must have been awarded for candidates to sit this course
  • It is recommended that candidates have at least three-years testing experience before attempting the course and exam

Holders of the Certified Tester Advanced Level qualification are eligible to continue onto any other ISTQB course at Advanced level and/or progress to becoming an ISTQB accredited Expert Level Tester.

Just 2 min. walk from the railway station: 25 min to London Paddington, 30 min Rail-Air link to Heathrow airport, free shuttle to Thames Valley Park. A short drive to the M4, other business parks and Reading FC stadium. Also includes Elements Restaurant and Bar and 8 purpose built meeting rooms. Limited pay parking available at the hotel on a first come first served basis. Alternative parking at the local NCP car park.


Novotel Reading





Exit the M4 at junction 11, take the exit from the roundabout onto the A33, signposted Reading. Continue straight ahead along the A33 towards Reading for about 10 minutes. You will go down under a bridge then turn left at signposted Garrard Street Car Park (Yell building on your right). At the roundabout take the 3rd exit in to Friar Street, turn left at the traffic lights onto Greyfriar Road then take the 1st right onto Garrard Street. You can park at the NCP car park there, the hotel is 1 min walk.

The Exam

To qualify as an internationally-recognized Certified Advanced Level Security Tester and be issued with an ISTQB® Advanced Level Certificate, delegates must successfully pass the exam administered by the relevant National Board or Examination Provider.

The 2-hour exam contains 45 questions, of which 60% must be answered correctly for a pass to and certificate to be awarded. The exam is taken on the final afternoon of the course.
